Lynne (now aged 69) and I have been working together since 2010. I was gym based in London then and can still remember Lynne sitting on one of the bikes whilst she explained her goal. She was post knee op and wanted me to help her prepare for a trip to the Himalayas that would include trekking, mountain biking and white water rafting! I recall trying to manage her expectations but she was determined! Fourteen years later and we now work online together, her determination is as strong as ever.
Here are some stories and photos from the last couple of years. In the photo below, Lynne then aged 67 trekked with hubby Peter to the base camp of Annapurna. A total of nine days there and back! I asked Lynne how yoga had helped her and this is what she said:
'Physically' - in terms of mobility and stretching. 'Mentally' - in terms of the determination required to keep going and 'Socially' because of the evening camaraderie with fellow hikers when they would do yoga stretches together. She also said the breathing techniques we practice together online helped her at high altitude and at times when she needed to relax.
Lynne and Peter then went on to complete a six month round the world trip where they tried to use planes as little as possible. Here are some photos of Lynne practicing yoga on the trip, she even found time and space for us to work online together too. True dedication.
The next challenge Lynne and Peter are training for is the Stockholm half marathon in September 2024. Here is a photo of Lynne feeling elated after completing a long practice run directly after one hour of online yoga with me! You are so inspiring Lynne, good luck for September!
